Welcome to Mildred I. Lavizzo School!
We are a Chicago Public School located in the greater Roseland area. We are very excited about our new school, which opened in August of 1999. The completion of this modern "technologically" enhanced facility was made possible by a united effort between a number of groups and individuals.
Mildred I. Lavizzo School has a rich heritage dating back to the late 1890’s when the original facility was known as the Peter Van Vlissingen School. There is a very strong feeling of "history", even in our new building. Many of our parents are our "alumni", which adds to our feeling of tradition. The faculty and staff are looking forward to seeing you. We hope that you will find time in your busy schedules to: meet with your child's teacher, volunteer to help in the school, join our NCLB Parent Program, work as a room parent, and assist in the many programs and activities through the year. Your presence and participation is encouraged and welcomed. To any of our former graduates, we would like to extend an invitation for you to come back to see our new facility. If you have a question, concern, problem, or want to let us know what a great job we are doing, please do not hesitate to stop in the office and let us know. We want your child to have the best year yet! This will happen when we all work together as a team. Thank you for trusting us with your most precious gift, your child. |
